About this place
Despite calling itself a bar, Wafu Bar keeps a proper, substantial food menu on hand, making it an appealing stop when you want to settle in over freshly prepared dishes alongside a drink. Counter seats are complemented by tatami flooring, giving the interior an unpretentious, welcoming Japanese atmosphere.
The selections range from classic drinking snacks like seaweed-wrapped yam fries (yamaimo no isobe-age), enoki bacon, and pan-fried sausages to daily specials that shift with whatever ingredients were sourced that day, as well as noodles such as Shirakawa ramen. Fresh seafood catches also find their way onto the chalkboard, offering grilled fish and simmered fare that provide comforting, homely fuel for an evening of drinking.
On the beverage side, draft beer and an array of chuhai and sours share menu space with whisky and mixed cocktails. Ordering runs on a ticket system purchased in lots of 1, a convenient setup that lets you pace your food and drink without keeping tabs on a running bill.
With doors opening from 15:00 in the evening, the bar accommodates everything from a quick early drink to a full meal rounded off with a final nightcap, all entirely at your own pace.
